Seed Potato, Red Pontiac (2 Kg)
2 kg Red Pontiac Seed Potatoes
high yielding, 90 days to maturity, good storage life.
The Red Pontiac (also known as Dakota Chief) is a red-skinned, waxy white flesh potato. The plants are large and spreading with angled stems and large light purple flowers. The potatoes can be knobby and get weird shapes if soil moisture is uneven, so they do best with regular watering for uniform potatoes. The skin colour can fade significantly, leaving only the eyes as red. They tend to store better than Norland potatoes but not as good for storing as the Cristina potato. Cristina is an improved version of this Red Pontiac variety.
Ideal for boiling, roasting, and salads, they maintain shape well during cooking.
We highly recommend amending the soil at time of planting with worm casting for all potatoes to help prevent scab. Find Worm Castings here
