Pink Lace, Didiscus Seed

Pink Lace, Didiscus Seed

0.25g packet

This lace flower features dainty umbels of the palest pink blossoms that bloom atop branching, upright stems with plentiful buds but few leaves. This mildly fragrant, long bloomer will flower from mid-summer to fall and grows to 60cm (24") tall. They have a long vase life too, so they are excellent as filler for arrangements or as the star in delicate bouquets.

Annual.

Starting

Didiscus seeds need warmth and darkness to germinate, and their delicate roots do not to be disturbed. Sow in soil blocks or biodegradable cells/pots and lightly cover to provide darkness or place cells/pots in a warm, dark room until seeds germinate. Water carefully from the bottom. Alternatively, direct sow in permanent location after last frost. Cover and keep moist until seeds sprout. Ideal soil temperature 21°C (70°F).

Watering seedlings with Premium Liquid Extract (see our worm casting product page) will help prevent transplant shock.

Growing

After last frost in spring and seedlings have at least two sets of true leaves, plant out in permanent location. Plant in well-draining, sandy soil and in a sunny spot, sheltered from strong winds. In hot, sunny climates, they benefit from some afternoon shade. When soil feels dry, water deeply.
