Opata Plum Cherry "Chum" is a dwarf shrub reaching 8' tall. Opata Plum Cherry is a hybrid, crossed between a Western Sandcherry and a Japanese Plum. Extremely cold hardy, producing fragrant white blossoms in the spring followed by small little purple-red skin plum fruit and yellow green flesh. Very much like a regular little plum. The pit is freestone.. The flavour is sweeter, less tangy than other varieties. Great for fresh eating, preserves, baking and juicing. Serves as an ornamental shrub with high yielding edible fruit. Fruit is ready to harvest mid to late August.
