Bleeding Heart
1 large field clump root
Bleeding heart is a garden classic! Bleeding hearts can live in a garden for many years. The foliage is a FANTASTIC option for early bouquet greenery!
Plant 1" deep in moist, yet well draining soil that is rich in humus (compost). Worm Castings are a MUST if there is clay base under the plant roots. Bleeding Hearts need the microbes to help it get important nutrients from the clay that are often locked up in the clay particles. This is one reason why many gardeners experience Bleeding Hearts suddenly starving out or winterkilling, not coming back. They just hungry!
