8 pack Gladiolus, Rippling Waters
Pack of 8 gladiolus corms
Gladiolus do great in our northern climate when direct sown into the soil mid-end of May, up to the first week of June. Often times one gladiolus corm will produce additional corms that bloom in one season. We generally get 2-3 usable cutflower stems of gladiolus from 1 spring planted corm when soil is amended properly. Gladiolus do best amended with worm castings or Superworm Soil at time of planting to increase productivity and build resistance to pests such as thrips. For our cutflower crop, we also amend the soil at planting with 1 part bloom and 1 part grow of granular AnneMaxx products (carried on our website under worm castings & Soil products). They thrive in humus rich soil and regular watering. If planting without amendments, gladiolus will generally produce 1 usable stem from 1 spring planted corm.
Gladiolus days to bloom will vary on soil temperatures. They generally bloom between 60-90 days from planting. Planting in a raised bed can speed up blooming, with warmer soil temperatures.
Gladiolus are not a perennial in our northern climate, and they must be dug up and stored for winter.
